Privacy Policy

Alan Joseph operates the BEADS ABACUS app and its related website for users in India. Smart Bee Educare runs the BEADS ABACUS teaching program as a separate organisation. Other teachers or institutions may also use the app for their own teaching. This policy explains the personal information handled through the app, the guardian approval website, and app support. Smart Bee Educare's and other institutions' activities outside the app may be covered by their own policies. For app privacy questions, contact info@beadsabacus.com.
Information we use
- Accounts and registration: account email and sign-in credentials; student first and last name, birth year, class grade, and optional reported teacher name; teacher account and profile details.
- Guardian approval: guardian name, email address, Indian phone number, approval status, and the versions of the policy and terms accepted during registration. We use a limited-life approval link to confirm a guardian's decision.
- Learning activity: teacher and student connections, assigned work, practice sessions, answers, scores, timing, progress, achievements, rankings, tests, and submissions.
- App and security data: account identifiers, sign-in and security records, device information needed to run the service, and, if Android notification permission is granted, a push token and app-generated device identifier.
- Support: the information you choose to send us when you ask for help.
We do not ask for payment card details in the app. Please do not send sensitive information that is unnecessary for learning or support.
Why we use it
We use this information to create and protect accounts, request and record guardian approval, provide learning activities, connect students with teachers, show progress and rankings, send account and learning notifications, answer support requests, and investigate misuse or service failures.
Children and guardians
A parent or lawful guardian must approve a student account before practice becomes available. We email the approval request to the guardian address supplied during registration. If you receive a request you did not expect, do not approve it and contact info@beadsabacus.com. A guardian can also contact us to withdraw approval or request access, correction, or deletion of a child's information.
Who receives information
Teachers connected to a student, including teachers at Smart Bee Educare or another institution, can see the information needed for their teaching activities, including assigned work and student results. They use the app for their own teaching services; Alan Joseph operates the app. Other users may see limited information displayed in class or ranking features. We use Supabase for accounts and app data, Cloudflare for public pages and security checks, Resend to send guardian approval email, and Firebase Cloud Messaging for Android push notifications when permission is granted. These providers process information to operate the service. We may disclose information when required by law or to protect users and the service. We do not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising.
Security and storage
We use sign-in controls, restricted database access, and other technical safeguards. Information can be processed by the providers named above, including outside India, as needed to run the service. No online service can guarantee absolute security.
Retention and deletion
Account and learning records are kept while an account is active. A signed-in student can request permanent deletion in the app under Settings > Delete account. Anyone can use our account deletion page to request deletion without the app. When account deletion succeeds, the account and records linked to it, including registration, guardian approval, individual practice sessions, answers, scores, assignment links, submissions, and notification devices, are removed from the active database. We retain combined, anonymous totals of completed scored practice sessions, attempted questions, and correct answers to understand app usage. These totals contain no student or session identifier and cannot restore a student's history. Teacher-created assignments and tests may also be removed when a teacher account is deleted. Limited security audit records, including an account identifier in deletion records, may remain to investigate misuse or meet legal obligations. Service-provider logs and backups may remain under the providers' retention practices. Contact us about a specific record or deletion request.
Your choices and requests
You can decline Android notification permission in device settings. To ask for access, correction, withdrawal of guardian approval, or deletion, write to info@beadsabacus.com. We may need to verify your connection to the account before acting, particularly for a child's information.
Changes
We may update this policy as the app changes. The effective date above shows when this version applies. Material changes will be communicated through the app or other appropriate means.
